My husband and I have decided that we are now spoiled by the homemade food we make. Case in point: biscuits & peppered sausage gravy. Hubby wanted this meal a few months ago so he had me find a recipe online then dove straight in and made it. It turned out great and is now in our Sunday lineup.
A few weeks ago we were at the grocery store and saw a peppered gravy mix in the bulk food section. We got a meal's worth and tried it out...and it was very gross and very disappointing. This has also been true for many things we used to buy like TV dinners and box mixes.
After some discussion about how much we don't like that gravy mix my husband said, "You know, we're just spoiled by homemade stuff now." And then we both laughed because that just shows how far we've come. So now I'm going to log off and return to the kitchen where banana bread is in the oven, husband is working on a chocolate cake and peas are pureed for the baby.

I'm that way with bottled salad dressing. It seems all I taste are the chemicals in them, so I make my own fresh for my salad (usually just honey and mustard with a dash of salt and pepper). It's a whole lot cheaper and nothing spoils when you just make it up a little at a time.
We haven't tried salad dressing yet but that is a great idea!
We still get food from out a lot (bad, bad us). But, we do find that we seem to enjoy food made at home much better. We just need to get better about doing it all the time!
The convenience factor of eating out is pretty hard to beat. We sure want to get better about having food in the freezer so when we're hungry we can grab that - or at least know it's waiting for us at home!
