Yesterday we went grocery shopping. I've allocated $200/month for groceries, so $100 per shopping trip. This month we decided we'll use cash for our shopping. We took our $100 to the store, but also had about $20 extra meant for something else with us. We didn't keep track of how much our groceries were costing and at the register the total came to $114.07. So we were about $15 over.
When we got home my husband said we'd done good at the store. I said we did, except that we were only supposed to spend $100! His response, "well, normally we spend about $20 over, so we're doing better!" Ahh, the optimist of the family.
